The Spinal Flow Technique is a gentle, scientifically-grounded healing modality that focuses on the nervous system to facilitate nervous system healing by releasing stored trauma, pain, and illness from the body.
The Core Concept
The River of Life
To understand Spinal Flow, imagine your spine as a river. When a river flows freely, it is healthy, clear, and teeming with life. However, if rocks, logs, and debris fall into the river, the flow is disrupted, causing the water to become stagnant, murky, and unhealthy.
Your body operates in a similar way.
The River: Your Spinal Cord and Nervous System.
The Water: Cerebrospinal Fluid (or "Life Force Energy") that carries intelligence to every cell.
The Debris: Layers of physical, chemical, and emotional stress that have been stored in your body because they were too overwhelming to process at the time.
Our goal is straightforward: find the blockages (debris) and remove them.
When the flow is restored, your body’s innate intelligence takes over and heals itself, promoting wellness and healing.
The Science of Stress
The 3 Layers of Blockage
We do not just address "sore backs." We investigate the root cause of why the spine became locked up in the first place, categorizing stress into three distinct layers:
Physical Stress: Falls, accidents, sports injuries, birth trauma, or simply the repetitive strain of sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day. This is mechanical tension.
Chemical Stress: What we put in or on our bodies, including processed foods, environmental toxins, medication, hormonal imbalances, and even dehydration.
Emotional Stress: Grief, anxiety, fear, anger, or past trauma. When we experience a "fight or flight" moment but don't complete the cycle (i.e., we suppress it), that energy gets trapped in the tissues of the spine.
How It Works
The Dura Mater & The Wave
Your spinal cord is protected by a tough, fibrous sheath called the Dura Mater.
In a healthy body: The Dura Mater is flexible and pulses with a natural rhythm.
In a stressed body: The Dura Mater tightens, becomes rigid, and twists. This "armouring" results in stiffness, pain, and a disconnection from the body.
The Access Points
Unlike chiropractic or osteopathy, we do not manually manipulate the bones. There is no cracking or crunching.
Instead, I apply a feather-light touch on specific Access Points located on the cranium (head), sacrum (tailbone), and specific points along the spine.
The Spinal Wave
These points act as portals to the nervous system. By holding them, I send a signal of "safety" to your brain. When your brain feels safe, it transitions from "Protection Mode" to "Healing Mode."
This triggers the Spinal Wave—a visible wave of energy that ripples through the spine. This wave is your body’s own internal mechanism for expelling blockages and loosening the tight Dura Mater.
The 7 Gateways - Mapping the Blockages
Spinal Flow divides the spine into 7 Gateways, with each gateway corresponding to a different section of the spine and a different aspect of your life. Identifying which gateway is blocked reveals the story of what is happening in your life.
Gateway Focus Area
1. Base: Trust, survival, and feeling safe in the world.
2. Foundation: Financial security, grounding, and connection to roots.
3. Power: Self-worth, confidence, and digestive fire.
4. Centre: The Heart—love, connection, grief, and vulnerability.
5. Passion: Creativity, expression, and speaking your truth.
6. Pause: The ability to slow down, stop overthinking, and find clarity.
7. Awaken: Connection to intuition, spirituality, and the bigger picture.
The Goal
From Survival to Thriving
The ultimate goal of the Spinal Flow Technique is not merely to "fix a bad back." It is to elevate your baseline.
We aim to transition you from the Sympathetic Nervous System (Fight/Flight/Freeze) to the Parasympathetic Nervous System (Rest/Digest/Heal).
In this state, your digestion improves, your sleep deepens, your anxiety quiets, and you reconnect with your true self beneath the layers of stress.
